Food in Southlake

'Lake Ledbetter', our flooded backyard
Since we’re still staying close to home, the only thing I’ve got to write about this week is a new restaurant. If the rain doesn’t stop soon, we’ll need a boat to do any traveling!

Southlake (see Two Sides of Southlake) is not far from us and has lots of places to eat. Most of them are chain restaurants, so they don’t generally get into this blog. However, there’s a new breakfast café that we just had to visit. For information about my rating system, see Reading the Reviews.
Four Carrots

Another Broken Egg Café (410 W Southlake Blvd #160, Southlake, TX 76092, 817-912-1506) is listed as a, ‘Casual chain featuring egg dishes
Top L to R: Beignets, Bacon and eggs,
Omelette
Bottom L to R: Bacon, City Grits, Coffee
and other breakfast items plus brunch sandwiches and a specials board.’ The chain started in Louisiana and several of the recipes reflect Cajun cuisine. The breakfast ‘appetizer’ is Biscuit Beignets, served with marmalade. They are warm, sweet, and wonderful with the jelly on each bite. Vince had the Traditional Day Starter that included two eggs with baked bacon and an English muffin. He also had the City Grits; these grits have bacon, tomatoes, and cheese. He was very pleased with his meal. Dave had the Floridian™ Omelette, a cream cheese-filled omelette topped with garlic sautéed crabmeat, Monterey Jack and green onions. He also had a side of the City Grits. I wasn’t horribly hungry so all I had were City Grits, baked bacon, and several of the Biscuit Beignets. We also had coffee, which was very good. We decided that this is a place that we will be visiting frequently – the food and service are excellent.

Waiting for spring!
